Hi, Everyone.
I ran across you all after finding out your address at the recent OAEA
conference in Columbus, OH. I actually started teaching in '73, left
teaching to get married, raise kids, lived in PA for 24 years, did a
number of art related and not so art related jobs, and just this summer
moved back to Ohio and found an elementary art position. It's exciting
to be out of administration and back into the classroom again, but I
feel like a brand new teacher; it is much more painful this time around
at my present age! Like your friend, Bunkie, "I remember dittos!" Any
help or hints you can pass my way, when you have a free moment, would be
deeply appreciated. If you are like me, I feel like I eat, breathe, and
sleep elementary art! Free moments are far and few between. I often ask
myself "What am I doing wrong that all the other teachers go home at a
reasonable hour and I'm still hanging displays or getting materials
together for the next day?" I amazed by just reading your e-mails at
how knowledgeable, talented and "together" you all sound Where do you
get your energy? This is something new for me to chat with an entire
group of strangers, but you are a pretty impressive group, one that I
would like to get to know better. Thanks in advance for your insight
and help.
Sandy
