I don't know if this will be any help, but we go Flower crazy in the spring- We
drew flowers, learned the parts, dissected flowers, made giant 3 dimensional
relief models of our dissections out of paper (cut, folded, twisted, etc. 36'
wide Kraft paper,) studied Georgia O'keefe, did big oil pastel abstractions of
flowers, planted seeds, grew flowers and had lots of fun. We also read a great
story called Miss Rumphius, about a woman who traveled the world then decided
she needed to give some beauty back and traveled around planting lupine seeds
like those that grew at her home. It is a great story for 3rd grade too. We had
individual seedling pots that a gardener dad donated, so each kid had a plant
to take home as well as planting them in the flower bed in the patio outside
our room. Making pots would have been a great addition, but no kiln then.
This was 6th and 7th graders, but good for third too-
