Many thanks to those of you who have been reviewing my Art of Ecology web
pages:
http://www.art.unt.edu/ntieva/artcurr/ecology/index.htm
I appreciate the feedback and will use your input to fine tune the unit of
study.
For those of you who have an interest and have not yet visited the pages, the
site is about a contemporary Austrian artist who identifies environmental
problems and solves them through architectural design. The results are often
whimsical, fairytale-like buildings.
You will find at the site:
1. Background material on the artist
2. Background material about one major architectural project in Vienna,
Austria
3. A timeline of the artist's life and his work
4. Four lessons related to art history, aesthetics, production, and criticism
5. Stated objectives
6. An assessment rubric
7. Student worksheets
8. Links to images and other resource material
I have worked closely with the artist and his archivist to insure that the
content is correct, but I could use feedback on the actual activities. An
additional activity not listed at the site is an artist interview that two
classes of fifth-grade students conducted. We will publish that interview
and the resulting articles as soon as they are complete.
I look forward to hearing from more of you on the list.
Best regards from Texas,
Pam Stephens
