For my semester exams for my advanced drawing class I have a color xerox and
a black and white xerox of two different famous artworks (this time my color
is a Renoir and B/W is Chagall). I cut them into squares for each student
in class, they randomly choose a square and then replicate the color in
pastel and b/w in charcoal on a larger sheet of paper. As they finish, I
tape them to the chalkbaord to re-create the original peice.
For my advanced painting students, they research a famous artist and do a
mini painting of one of their works and present it to the class on exam day.
