Hi,
An artist's residency? What a wonderful opportunity for both you
and the K-5 students! Try developing the program around a prime
student interest; themselves!! Do self-portraits. With this as the
theme, you can teach them to draw realistically; something that
the older students are dying to learn!! You can take digital
photographs of the students, (or use their school photos) print
them out as 'reference material' and teach cartooning, caricatures,
portraits through art history (from Rembrandt to Andy Warhol) etc.
You will have a ready made audience because the projects are
about THEM!!

This can culminate in a giant school mural. Just my 2 cents worth!
