I give the middle school students in the acrylic painting elective "ownership"
of brushes as well. They have a small box with their name on it the whole
semester and they are responsible for the care, cleaning and location of the
brushes. It is very funny if another student takes someone elses brush by
accident---they get very personal about the brushes even tho' they are not
really theirs to keep. (I often overhear them tell each other how nicely they
have maintained their own brushes.) This works very well if you have a good
variation of acrylic brushes. We are soooo lucky that one of our parents owns
a brush company and he donates brushes to us every year! :) I don't know what
we will do when his daughter graduates! lol
