Well - I have a set of brushes soaking in Coke - hope it works. This is the
worst year I have had with my middle school students and cleaning brushes.
I also spend a period on brush construction, expansion, contraction etc... I
don't know what is going on. I still find brushes everywhere. Wet, with
paint, in water etc. I mean they have to work at some of this.
My solution - everyone gets one brush at the beginning of class. And they
may hand it back to me clean at the end of class. No choices in type or
size of brush (unless they have demonstrated the respect the tool deserves.)
And I might let them trade it in if they justify their request with an
analysis of their need.
This is a battle I am determined to win... maybe...
