High school portfolios

My earliest teaching experience was high school art in New Jersey,
mid-70's, where we helped kids get portfolios ready for college,
employment, etc. But I haven't taught high school in 20 years.
I have an "ex"-student who has returned to me with a problem. Her advanced
placement art teacher and she don't see eye to eye, and she wants out of
the AP art track. She still, however, wants to put together a portfolio
and has asked my help.
My question..are there any national standards in this area yet? Are there
any lists available as to the best things to include in portfolios? Thanks
in advance...
