Well, I don't know about the slavery and threats part (but maybe "The Agony
and the Ecstasy" would shed some light on that. But according the child's
book, "Lives of the Artists," he wore boots made out of dog skin and left
them on so long that when he took them off parts of his feet fell off!!!!!
Same book tells us that DaVinci was fastidious and bathed daily, which was
considered very eccentric.
