One VERY important consideration that i've not seen mentioned, is that the school district (assuming you are teaching in a school) will most likely have a dress code of some kind. I teach in two buildings that have different dress codes. One is an old building with no air conditioning, so we get away with very casual dress. The other is a new building, with not only AC, but older staff members, who want a more professional look.
So, sorry to say, Aimee, if you were teaching here, you might get away with the combat boots once in awhile, but I'm sure my principals would have a "conference" with you about all of the piercings.
