Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa has a great Art Education program.

There is a curriculum research program, called New Art Basics, based at ISU. The project includes many "teacher-researchers" out in the schools. The art ed students work closely with teachers in the schools.

The unique part of the project, is the networking of the teachers, facilitated by an online database of over 2000 teaching strategies (written and tested by the teachers in the project).

I did both my undergrad and grad work at ISU - definitely a program for consideration!

New Art Basics website -
(You can read info about philosophy, curriculum, etc. but can not access database if not a member)

Hope this helps for your list,
