Sandra,

Milwaukee Public schools had a policy years ago NOT to "give" anybody the
books they no longer used. This included old library books, books that were
outdated and brand new books that were, for some reason or another, never
included in curriculum. Do you know what they did with all these books? They
BURNED them in the incinerator!!! I was mortified! We were forbidden to
rescue any of them. This was policy. I think it's changed now because too
many people complained, but, oh....the waste.

I know many homeschooling families that are always looking for books for their
kids. However, I'm not sure how happy a school would be helping out
homeschoolers....
