Hi Duffy and the other super art educ. out there,
I can relate to your deadline frustration. I assign a weekly sketch that is
due on friday. I get about half the kids on friday with sketches even if I
tell them I will be checking them at the end of the period (hint:if you
haven't done it take a few minutes to do it now.) It is very frustrating also
when students don't turn in assignments and complain that I did not remind
them enough. I have grades posted at all times and an assignment chart up on
the wall!

What really gets me irritated is when kids will try to hand me a project or
ask me where it goes in the second semester, even though the "to be graded"
box is still in the same place it has been all year.

Like you,I say there is a 1 week late deadline so that I don't end up swamped
with a ton of "hurried week projects done in a day to pass the quarter" to
grade by grade sheet deadline on monday.

I don't want to drop my standards. It is a tough call. Suzette
