Also would like to comment on the time management discussion. I've taught
18 yrs. at the same school, and almost 25 total. The best gift I ever gave
myself was learning to say "no". It's difficult sometimes, but if you get
burned out, you help no one, esp. your students. When my son was small, I
spent more time at home. IT's a fact of life. I try to make sure my
classroom obligations are done first, attend to the paperwork I am FORCED to
get done, and pick and choose contests as best as I can work them in. And I
don't stress out at not getting it all done anymore. No one ever died and
had a last thought of, "I wish I'd graded more papers." NO one sane, anyway.
