I once saw a very interesting photography assignment in which the students
were to fabricate a "para-normal" event and "document" it using photographs
and text. For example, one student's tabloid type article featured photos of
various people, with captions describing their experiences with a particular
ghost (which were quite humorous) , and "photographic proof" of the ghost
itself, which of course the student had created by means of photogrphic
effects. Not only does this have tremendous creative potential, it is also a
good way to introduce students to the idea that "mere" photos don't really
prove anything, especially in the digital age!! (Hmm... using computers in
this project would open even more avenues of posibilities...)
