A little late, but in reply to Sandra's problem of nothing but bricks and
bushes to draw outside - I am in a new school this year(Yeh!), with an
outside door and a small patio. My kids are in the process of creating a
mini-pond and stepping stones. With the assistance of adult volunteers we
also are landscaping the area as a Monet style garden. I hope that the
whole area can be used as an outdoor classroom by other teachers as well.
We will have bird houses, frogs, aquatic plants and fish in the pond as
well as a butterfly garden. It will be next year before we will have much
to draw and paint, but we are looking forward to it. Ask if you can do
something similar. And the rural setting with farms and woods can be a
great resource. We are also in the middle of farmland and hope to develop
walking trails in the future. Ann
