Sports and Art?

I'll check the archives on the topic but was hoping for some information in
the meantime. Am trying to get a 15 year old young man who's interested in
sports and art info about career opportunities that combine both. One
example I immediately think of is photographers who specialize in sports,
i.e. take photos for use in sports cards, posters, etc.
There's a well-known commercial artist,( I believe once affiliated with
Madison Square Garden), who does somewhat impressionistic paintings of
various sports. Does anyone know his name? Any good resources or other
ideas or examples of how to combine sports and art into a career? Have you
seen any articles or video segments on the topic designed for the K-12
audience?
