Folks, I just finished a book that has touched me deeply in many ways. It
is _Forged Under the Sun/Forjada bajo el sol_ the life of Maria Elena
Lucas, edited by Fran Leeper Buss; 1993, University of Michigan Press.
It is the life story of an Hispanic migrant worker and a most revealing
look at that culture.
It is also the story of an intensely creative child in a culture that
considered her "differentness" the work of the devil and required that she
hide those creative impulses.
I hope you will consider locating this book and reading it at what ever
level touches you.
