Along the lines of those colored glasses;

Judy Logan writes about responding positively to students in her
book "Teaching Stories". I'm trying it with my high school students,
"Miss can I use ..." Yes
"is it OK if ..." Yes
"Can we make it.." Yes
Amazing the power of such a small word ! My kids are getting more
involved and taking more ownership for their works. Best of all they
seem to be taking more risks. An added bonus is when I do have to
say no they accept it easily.
It's working for me.
