I have a teaching collegue in Sydney who used the Simpsons TV
popularity when the program first appeard as a means of using popular
culture as an introduction to the arts. Disney style is not popular
culture. It is an all encompasing, pervasive almost mistletoe like
art form that take over from that which already exists.
Popular styles come, bloom, then fade as new forms arise and
provide wonderful living examples of evolving culture. The
Disney style just intrudes into all aspects of life and never evolves.
