1 .I would consider that the most important issue is a thorough
understanding of the developmental stages in child growth and how
these apply to Child art. This applies to all levels of teaching..
Secondary art teachers need to fully comprehend the process through
which a child has gone in their art prior to entering secondary
school

2. An appreciation of the nature of Creativity

3. A knowldge of the damaging effects of adult interference
particularly in the early stages.

4. Participation in the art process themselves and the opportunity
to explore many media and techniques at their own level.

5. (this is implied and probably is the top priority) Any person
wishing to be a teacher must like children and enjoy interacting with
them. They must remember what it was like to be a child
