We also used the green heart idea for our hospital arts program. It
worked out great for our "mini art kit" that accompanies our
monthly newsletter. The art kits provide art materials for the children
to create art when our artists aren't around, something simple they can
do either by themselves or with the help of a parent. Instructions for
the green heart activity were given in the newsletter. The kits were
plastic baggies, each with 2 blank pieces of white paper and a green
marker (someone gave us dozens of them last Christmas). The children had
great fun, and we left a bunch of kits at the nurses station for
children who were hospitalized later in the week.

Next month our mini kits will have a handful of those baking soda
packing material bits for the children to make "lick and stick"
sculpture, another idea I got from this list serve.

Thanks to all of you on this listserve for the wonderful ideas that I am
finding so easy to adapt to the hospital setting.
