processing survey data

Dear Folks,
I plan to use an online survey to collect data for my thesis project in
art education. I need some technical advice on how to process the
information that comes in. Doing a little test run at home the survey
responses came in, in a continuous, line/flow of text. I imagine there is
someway to direct the information into a database or at least make it a
bit more readible.
Experienced advice would be greatly appreciated.
