How does the promotion of so-called national standards by Clinton, or anyone
else in positions of power and authority, positively impact on what I do in
my artroom with my students? What positive impact will the inevitable call
for accountability to these standards have on my teaching and my students'
learning? How do you feel about a national art test? In a pluralistic and
democratic society, how do you develop national cultural standards and who is
going to develop them and what will its impact be on those who are not part
of the cultural mainstream? This is troubling to me. Why isn't troubling to
