To those who were concerned about copying another cultures art work---When
ever I
do anything from a culture, I always have plenty of references to view and we
discuss the culture and the meaning of the art form. I feel elementary
students gain a great deal when reproducing an art form in their own way.
Since our school is mainly white with few other ethnic groups in attendance,
these students are not exposed to other cultures as in a multicultural school
setting. The art room provides trips to many countries and cultures, always
with the respect that is due to that culture and art form. There were
several responses to the directions and I thought more about this later, thus
the second version of how I feel about this. Hope this answers your
concern.
