1. Scherenschnitte (German paper cut) designs: Are good for small muscle
use, negative/positive, flat designs, folded designs...... to be used as
wall hangings, bookmarks, cards. Designs range from very simple to
complex. I adjust the designs many times by enlarging for the age group
involved. Patterns may be found in craft books, collectors and the
following company:

2. Large paper valentines may be cut out, folded (this shows symmetry)
and then cut slits on the fold to form the warp--the weft is made of
strips of colored paper, yarn, scraps of material.
3. Precut heart shapes from needlepoint-type plastic canvas: Students
can sew edges with yarn....use it as a center for a mobile with sayings
hanging down from it.
4. Copy a puzzle shaped heart for students to decorate with crayons,
paint, markers, etc.; glue back on colored construction paper to give a
mosaic effect.
