Marcia, I use "History of Art", 5th ed., by Janson, for my class text,
which was the text recommended by a number of AP History of Art teachers.
I received a free copy of volume I of the Stokaad book, though, and I love
it! I use it to supplement the Janson material in my lectures. I have
just ordered Vol. II, so I didn't realize it doesn't go up to the present.
"The Story of Painting, by Sister Wendy Beckett, which I use as another
resource, has some material you would find useful.
Another book that was used by several AP teachers in the
Collegeboard's "Teacher's Guide to AP History of Art" De la Croix,
"Gardner's ARt Through the Ages".
Oh, and yes, mine is a survey course. Since it is an AP class, I have to
cover the topics required for the AP exam. It's a huge amount of material!
(You can find the infoat
http://www.collegeboard.org/ap/art-history/html/indx001.html.) Hope this
helps, and let's keep in touch!
