Regarding classroom discipline, you will find a good model in the writings of
Lee and Marlene Canter. Their approach works.
Titles of some of their publications:

Assertive Discipline: Positive Behavior Management for Today's Classroom

Succeeding With Difficult Students

Lee Canter's Assertive Discipline workbook

I use this approach and it is very effective. You can also find an overview
of other models in "Building Classroom Discipline" by C.M. Charles. You might
also be interested in Thomas Lickona's book "Educating for Character". This
book has influenced me quite a bit in seeing my role as one of providing some
influence in terms of positive human qualities.
