Re:[teacherartexchange] Ways your school honors faculty

Date: Fri Feb 24 2006 - 04:37:54 PST

Thanks for the great responses yesterday to my request to hear ideas
from you about the ways your schools honor your faculty. Our school
already gives us all a day off to visit another school, but I love the
idea about the honorarium for long timers and the opportunity to visit
another school that might perhaps require travel to visit. I mean, if
we do this every year already, by the time you have taught for 10-15
years, you have seen so many local schools already, it would be great to
be able to visit a stellar school in another town. Two days off at that
time would be wonderful. I can already think of LOTS of different
schools on this list that I would love to see! If it were not for the
grants I mentioned in my last email having to happen during the summer,
that would be a nice grant travel around to a variety of
schools from this list to meet teachers and see your classrooms in
action. Yeah, right! I can see my itinerary now...coast to coast,

We love food at my school too, and our faculty meetings are always
celebrating birthdays or special events. There's a budget for this
food, I guess, because the school provides it. Sometimes we have
additional birthday food in our "teacher's work room/land of perpetual
food offerings." (oink oink!) Parent's Guild puts food in there for us
frequently, too.

You guys are submitting great ideas. Please keep them coming as you
think of them or send them to me off list if you wish.
