A modest way to reward a successful teacher might be to provide paid leave and travel costs to observe and visit another successful teacher that is using different methods of teaching the same subject. Budget an honorarium for the teacher being observed as well, so that after the observation, they can have a leisurely Saturday morning discussion at Starbucks about their educational philosophies. It can be a good creative bump on the head to see a totally different approach.
