Re:[teacherartexchange] [art_education] YAM help needed

Date: Sun Feb 05 2006 - 22:54:20 PST

Hi all,
I am currently creating a PowerPoint Slide presentation for NAEA about Youth Art Month (YAM). It will run as attendees enter the forum for the 1st general session and we hope to feature all 50 states. Additionally, we are securing a section of seats up front for present and past YAM chairs.

We all know that hard work and promotion go on for our programs all year long, but since 1961, YAM is a way to showcase and celebrate quality programs while gaining community and legislative allies. It is the only in place, organized, grass roots advocacy through NAEA and CFAE (Council for Art Education).

The conference theme is "Defining Who We Are: The Many Faces of Art Education" From 1999 to 2004 the national YAM theme was "The Many Faces of Art". What a great opportunity to tie these together!

I am in hopes of obtaining 2-4 images from each state to use from those previous programs. I have contacted YAM chairs and association presidents, but have gotten only a few responses to date.

If any of you know those contacts in your states I am asking you to let pass this along OR maybe send me a couple of student portrait images that we could use for this program. My school e-mail is

with thanks for any and all help,
Creatively, Linda in Oregon
