One of the best pieces of advice I got was to start collecting art
postcards from galleries and museums. These can be used to jump start many
activities, eg. picking three portraits you like and drawing a portrait of
yourself in those styles.

I also find remainder books and calendars, then cut up the pages for
individual pictures.
