I have grades K-1 for 1 hour per week. I would really like to see K-1 for 45
minutes, 2x a week..and the older students for 2 hours per week. If I know a
teacher doesn't mind me keeping students longer, then I will often make the
suggestion, just to give the kids more work time. I am going to propose the 45
minutes, 2x per week for kinders to my principal for next year. I am sure it
will be shot down...but it won't hurt to put it out there.

My question would be: How many sections are you already teaching? If you
add pre-k then you are programing for 7 grade levels..that is an awful lot. Do
you have sufficient prep time for all that you are currently teaching. Would
you get sufficient prep time for any sections you would be adding?

I think it is great that your principal is asking you to give the kids MORE
art instruction time. If you can, try to fit it in...especially for kinders
and the older students (5, 6)
