Are today's kids really techno-saavy?

Indeed, today's children feel very comfortable with using a variety of
techno gadgets. They also are adept at customizing their desktops, searching
for music lyrics and online games. However, if you ask them which website
they would use for information - a website that is flashy-rich vs. a plainer
one but content-rich and accurate, most kids would choose the flashy one.
Observe a student doing internet searching, and you will see Google results
with over a million hits - all due to poor keyword searches. Then there's
PowerPoint presentations, which are equipped with animations and sound
effects, but are content-poor....

Today's kids need to be trained how to be a saavy technology user, able to
discern/evaluate information, synthesize it and use as a basis for personal
application and original ideas.
