I have to ask this question. I 'm not sure what Elmo is but I have at home an
$80 logitech webcam that acts like a live monitor. I"m sure this can be used
to do live demos for very cheap. I bought this to do stop action. It has a
wide field of view and can be positioned anywhere if you have a long enough cord.

  I wonder if this is a dirt cheap alternative.
