I agree that centers are not for everyday use. Kids do get tired of
them, and, yes, we are teachers. But centers save the day when kids
finish early. THey need a chance to choose what they want to do
sometimes. I find that the younger kids in my school do best with them.
Unfortunately, the older kids (many of them) view free time as a
socializing free time. Younger kids (4th grade and below) view
activity time as a time to get to draw what you want to draw, build what
you want to build, etc.
