Perhaps the sketchbook artist is just that, a sketchbook artist. The
wonderful Dutch (I think) illustrator who did Gnomes (his Noah's Ark is
really amazing) is kind of that. I've never seen a "finished piece", but all
his books look like sketchbooks.
