Love your post, Jackie. I totally agree with you about getting to know
your kids individually and how hard you can push them. I relate to
sometimes pushing them too hard, and I try to gage each child's
ego/emotional attachment to what they have done so far when we are still
in the stage where I might push for more. It's amazing what kids can be
TRULY proud of that we might not "see", and it is also truly amazing to
see the heights they can rise to and the pride they can feel after going
beyond their own expectations. Learning to gage each child's levels of
ability is crucial to making art a pleasurable and rewarding experience
vs. a traumatic and disappointing one. It's a joy to see the pinnacle
pieces, but it's devestating to see a child's self esteem drop in art
