Grading in elementary

I keep a running grade book. I see every class for a week at a time. Monday-
Friday. A grade goes in my grade book every week. Averaged at the end of each
nine weeks. we (related arts, Spanish, PE, Music and Art) rotate to another
grade level per week. This is similar to block scheduling, except this is in an
ELEMENTARY school. This is a wonderful schedule as we actually introduction,
complete and reflect/extend lessons. Our grades are formally given (district
mandated) every 9 weeks with classroom grades as 1= excellent, 2= good or 3=
poor. I base grades on class effort/particioation - utilization of given
objectives - and completion of assignment based on relative class average.
Hope this helps.
