Re: Jim Dine - Lesson plans

All of this discussion of Dine's hearts--and Bunki's students work--inspired
me to do a heart project with my most recent group of 6th graders. To
personalize the project I asked my students to transform the hearts into a
symbol of something they love. Using oil pastels and Dines counter shading
they have come up with heart shaped ice cream cones, basketballs, patchwork
quilts, guitars, and more (my sample piece was a heart shaped painter's
palette). The results so far have been incredible and the kids LOVE the
project. Thanks for the inspiration!
