This Thursday, February 21, Jill Gurr, Founder/President
,Screenwriter/Producer of CreateNow!, will be guest at the
Alternative/Correctional Education Form at TAPPED IN
(http://www.tappedin.org) at 5pm PST/8pm EST.
The CreateNow! mission is to provide creative arts mentoring to
institutionalized at-risk children and youths, ages 2 to 21, who have
been abused, neglected, abandoned or are involved in the juvenile
Creative arts are the focus of the mentoring projects. Through different
types of writing, (such as screenwriting, TV sit-com writing, poetry,
short stories and plays), painting, music, dance, video production,
etc., with an emphasis on the crafts of the film and TV industry, the
youths learn to express themselves in a positive manner that can be
shared with others. The artistic projects have a very therapeutic
effect. The CreateNow programs enhance the children's skills, develop
self-esteem, confidence and teamwork.
For many of children, this is the first time that they've successfully
worked with others to create something positive. Mentoring can take a
variety of forms: one-time seminars, ongoing workshops and one-on-one
mentoring. Some of the group classes become part of the school
curriculums, while others are offered as after-school or week-end
To join the discussion with Jill, log in to TAPPED IN a few minutes
