Glad to know this "battle" in me is one that others struggle with. (It does
depend on the day I am having!) But realizing I have studied under amazing
"famous" artists who also taught is a good reality check/reminder. For
example, I studied under George McNeil, who was a student of Hans Hoffman.
Both known, yet both taught well into the end of their lives. I studied
under Anne Truitt, and she was 79 at the time! In the Jan. issue of Art in
America is an interesting interview with Gerhard Richter and his experience
teaching during his career. (Going to see his show at MoMA next week.)

The bottom line for me is, do both. Balance. Life is short. Melissa
