Susan,
If you don't want to have to answer to the phrase "Anybody
can do that," present something of Picasso's early work
and some of his portrait drawings and sketches. This can
be done through blind contour and maybe monotypes of
portraits. If you're interested, just last week I learned
a monotype technique that ends up looking like etchings
but is done very simply. Let me know and I'll give you a
description and ways I think it could be used in the
classroom.
