Unfortunately it is pretty bad all over and it (pressure) starts before
school!
Time magazine ran articles on overbearing parents a year ( or so )ago .
It mentioned that some well- to-do parents were getting tutors for their
kids in sports and "core" ( hate that word) subjects as young as
pre-school. The reason was they wanted their child to be the star pupil
,next Tiger Woods or get that Harvard scholarship. That is why we even
have in parents who hold their kids back in school so they are the
oldest or tallest. We have a cut- off date of Sept. 1 for Kindergarten,
and I have heard of p[arents in our area hold back kids with Spring
birthdays for that very reason. How warped are some people getting?
Those poor kids!

Ann Heineman wrote --Ha! Over ten years ago I heard parents, upon
registering their child for Kindergarten, asking whether the child was
going to be placed in the upper third of her class academically. That
evil stress on our children is starting right down here in the
foundation.
