There has been lots of good advice , but I do agree with the person who said if they have lots of energy -use it! If they use an art room I 'm sure they get it dirty, so make it a cleaning day. Give each table a cleaning chore and use up that energy.
That reminds me of when there is a dance at our middle school and it's a Friday ( and especially if it's before a vacation!) I don't knock my head against a wall by trying to start a new lesson or do anything that involves major concentration. We might play art games( really a review!) or a video , or journal with a art talk time. Sometimes ( that is just sometimes ) you help all by going with the flow.
