plaster of paris sculpture

i am planning on doing a carving lesson with my 4th grade classes. We will
be using plaster of paris (and milk cartons). Does anyone know the
proportion of vermiculite to plaster, I should be mixing? The vermiculite
makes the plaster soft enough to carve with plastic knives (4th graders,
remember?) I have forgotten just how much vermiculite to add. Many thanks!
