Robin- I have had similar problems with kids. I probed to find out their
interests and created projects from there. Mine loved to play chess so I
created a project where he got to draw chess pieces and paint them. We did a
sculpture project of an animal that he chose- a snake and he built it and
painted it. I know these students are VERY TRYING but hang in there. He
ended up being nice to me after being very rude initially. Good Luck
