Robin - I know of an art teacher who brought in old pieces of wooden
furniture (chairs, tables) for her behavior-challenged art kids to clean up
and refinish. The kids liked scrubbing and sanding them down, repainting and
decorating, and seeing the finished results. It is something they could put
some of that muscle energy into and they could anticipate the end results.
Also, it took them several weeks to finish each piece, so the teacher didn't
have to constantly come up with several short-term art projects that the kids
weren't really interested in anyway... good luck! --Lisa in SD
