Try Jean Dubuffey (sp?). He did exactly what your are talking about-
--did some really interesting low relief of "organic" forms--people
mainly. He also did bas relief with plant forms (many collage with
butterfly wings)....sort of mixed media. He is a great artist to
introduce when doing collagraph prints, too...His works look much
like a collagraph plate (stained one color--usually earth tones--
browns---then rubbed to show highlights). Jean Dubuffey is an artist
I chose to learn more about over the summer....Unfortunately--my
CD went bad and I lost all of the scanned images. Send a personal
e-mail to me ( mailto:Jdecker@woh.rr.com ) and if and when I
check the book out again I will share some images with you (book
is out of print and the publisher didn't respond to my request to
scan images....so....)
