Re: Appropriate Artist Needed

Date: Mon Feb 12 2001 - 07:56:14 PST

There was an exhibit many years ago....(about 11 or so) at the Cooper Hewitt. In this exhibit, Dakota Jackson (furniture designer, magician, artist) did a small piece using orgami crickets. It was really quite charming. There is also a book on insect poetry called "Insectopedia" with beautiful illustrations. I just finished doing a bug unit with my first graders. It is linked to their science curriculum. We did poetry, read a book called "Crickwing" looked at pictures of real insects and also read "Two Bad Ants" I also used a book called "How Artists See Nature" which had an old tin cricket toy.

Hope that helps.
